Message from Sheila Haddon

“This year we are celebrating the 300th anniversary of the opening of the original kirk on this site, and as part of our celebrations we are running a competition for young composers to compose an anthem for 4-part choir and organ.  The response to this has been amazing, and our panel of judges (Professor Robert Saxton of Worcester College, Oxford, Kyle McDonald of Classic FM and Dr Geoffrey Higgins, our Director of Music) have shortlisted four of the 31 entries from all over the world.

These will be performed by our choir at the final judging event and concert on Saturday 16 February at 7 pm.  We would like to invite members of Churches Together in Westminster to join us for this event. After the winner has been announced, there will be a reception in the hall.

We would also like to invite members of CTiW to attend our special Tercentenary service at 11.15 am on Sunday 24 March 2019, 300 years to the day since the original church opened for worship, at which the preacher will be the Right Reverend Susan Brown, Moderator of the Church of Scotland.  We appreciate that most of you will have your own services to attend on that day, but hope that nonetheless some of you may be able to get to Crown Court for the service.

Please contact Sheila if you have any questions as this is not a CTiW event, although it is a splendid opportunity for us to “Join the Neighbours”. You may also care to remember Crown Court Church in your prayers on their special day on Sunday, 24 March.
