Disability Conference 2019 Thinking Differently About God: Neurodiversity, Faith and Church

posted in: News | 0

Saturday 12th October –  Sunday 13th October 2019

A weekend conference on Disability and Church arranged by St Martin-in-the-Fields and Inclusive Church.

The organisers are particularly excited about their programme this year as ‘Thinking Differently About God: Neurodiversity, Faith & Church’ is a weekend of events to mark their 8th annual conference on Disability and Church.

On Saturday 12 October 2019 their annual day conference – which this year focuses on neurodiversity (the idea of natural variations in the way people think and process information) –  will explore our understanding of God and sharing experience of discovery, discrimination and discernment, while on Sunday 13 October the Eucharist at St Martin’s will reflect on the themes of the weekend, using liturgy written by St Martin’s Disability Advisory Group. The address at this service will be given by Ann Memmott, main author of the Church of England guidelines on autism, and the service will be BSL interpreted. Then, in the afternoon, they will use insights from the creative arts to explore the weekend’s themes through performance, discussion and workshops.
